RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA — Justice Allison Riggs has won her race for North Carolina Supreme Court Associate Justice, seat 06, as confirmed by a statewide machine recount completed on December 3.
The results of the recount were identical to the original vote count. Justice Riggs won by 734 votes out of over 5.5 million cast.
“North Carolinian voters have spoken, and their votes have been counted and recounted. I continue to feel gratitude beyond measure for the trust they have placed in me, and for the election workers who have worked so diligently and competently in this election and in these post-election processes. I look forward to continuing to serve our state without fear or favor,” said Justice Riggs.
“Two complete counts of ballots have confirmed Justice Riggs’ victory in the race for NC Supreme Court Associate Justice, seat six. The recount confirms how well our elections are run in this state. Judge Jefferson Griffin needs to immediately concede – losing candidates must respect the will of voters and not needlessly waste state resources,” said Embry Owen, campaign manager.
Justice Allison Riggs has served on the North Carolina Supreme Court since 2023, when she was appointed by Governor Roy Cooper after serving on the Court of Appeals. Prior to her judicial service she was a civil rights and voting rights attorney who worked with communities across the South to ensure free and fair elections and safe and healthy environments.
