MEET JUSTICE ALLISON RIGGS

I’ve spent my entire career fighting to protect the rights of every North Carolinian, and I won’t back down now.
North Carolinians elected me to keep my seat on the North Carolina Supreme Court in November 2024, a win that was affirmed by two independent recounts. After winning election to a full term on the North Carolina Supreme Court, my victory is being challenged in court. My opponent has filed a lawsuit seeking to throw out more than 65,000 lawfully cast ballots, including the votes of both of my parents as well as deployed military serving our country. As a proud daughter of a 30-year military veteran, I won’t stop fighting to ensure that every eligible voter - including active duty military and veterans - can make their voices heard.
I was honored to be appointed to the North Carolina Supreme Court by Governor Cooper in 2023, after previously serving on the Court of Appeals. Before serving as a judge, I worked for 14 years as a civil rights attorney, fighting to protect North Carolinians’ freedoms, including the right to vote. I argued twice before the U.S. Supreme Court in benchmark redistricting cases.
While this case moves through the legal system, I remain focused on serving with integrity, independence, and a deep commitment to the rule of law. And as the youngest woman ever to serve on our state Supreme Court, I bring a needed perspective to the bench. I’ll continue to work every day to deliver justice for all North Carolinians without fear or favor.
