RACE FOR NC SUPREME COURT REMAINS TOO CLOSE TO CALL, BALLOT COUNT CONTINUES
Contact: Embry Owen; embry@riggsforourcourts.com
As of Friday, November 8, the Riggs campaign was continuing to monitor the count of absentee and provisional ballots across North Carolina as the race for North Carolina Supreme Court associate justice between Allison Riggs and Jefferson Griffin was still too close to call.
“Right now, our goal is to allow the county boards of election the time to do the work of county canvass,” said Embry Owen, Riggs campaign manager. “This means that our team will be patient and monitor results as canvass continues. We thank every election worker who is contributing time and energy to this process.”
The campaign also noted that any decisions about a recount would be made after the county canvass process is complete.
Voters who have any questions about their own absentee or provisional ballot should contact their county board of elections as quickly as possible. Contact information is available at: https://www.ncsbe.gov/about-elections/county-boards-elections
Allison Riggs was first appointed to the North Carolina Supreme Court by Governor Roy Cooper in 2023 after serving on the Court of Appeals. Prior to her judicial service she was a civil rights and voting rights attorney who worked with communities across the South to ensure free and fair elections and safe and healthy environments.
