RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA — Justice Allison Riggs has declared victory in the election for North Carolina Supreme Court Associate Justice, Seat 6. She will continue to make history as the youngest woman to ever serve on the state’s highest court.
“I’m humbled that a majority of North Carolinian voters have placed their trust in me to continue serving on the North Carolina Supreme Court, and I am extraordinarily grateful to the coalition of local organizations, community leaders and volunteers who have supported our campaign over the past two years,” said Justice Riggs. “This victory shows our democracy in action. Every voter’s voice matters in shaping the future of our state and our judiciary.”
“North Carolina voters have chosen to return Justice Riggs to the state Supreme Court. A recount in this race is well underway, and six counties have already completed their recounts. Based on what we are seeing so far, we expect this recount to continue to proceed smoothly, confirm Justice Riggs’ win, and affirm the great work done by our state election officials,” said Embry Owen, campaign manager.
Justice Allison Riggs has served on the North Carolina Supreme Court since 2023, when she was appointed by Governor Roy Cooper after serving on the Court of Appeals. Prior to her judicial service she was a civil rights and voting rights attorney who worked with communities across the South to ensure free and fair elections and safe and healthy environments.
