Today, Justice Allison Riggs’ victory in the contest for North Carolina Supreme Court Associate Justice, Seat Six, was confirmed by a final statewide recount.

The results of this sample hand recount were released by the North Carolina State Board of Elections and are available on the Board’s website. Justice Riggs gained 14 votes in the sample hand recount.

The initial vote count confirmed Justice Riggs’ victory by 734 votes, and a statewide machine recount confirmed her win by the exact same margin. The sample hand recount, which also confirms her win, is the third and final count of votes.

“I am ready to continue serving all North Carolinians on our state’s highest court, and I am grateful that voters have placed their trust in me. This victory shows our democracy in action, and the recount process demonstrates that our elections are incredibly well-run. I urge all of us to turn our attention to delivering justice for the people of North Carolina,” said Justice Riggs.

“The votes have now been counted three times. Judge Jefferson Griffin must concede immediately. He must retract his challenges of over 60,000 North Carolinians’ ballots, including those of servicemembers and elected officials. This election has concluded, and the voters have issued a clear verdict in electing Justice Riggs,” said Embry Owen, campaign manager.

Justice Allison Riggs has served on the North Carolina Supreme Court since 2023, when she was appointed by Governor Roy Cooper after serving on the Court of Appeals. Prior to her judicial service she was a civil rights and voting rights attorney who worked with communities across the South to ensure free and fair elections and safe and healthy environments.
